The Hyundai Tuscon India launch in 2022 is planned for the second half of the year. Tucson is a well-known brand in India, where it has been present since 2005. The Tuscon has undergone numerous updates over the years, and the evolution is clear when comparing the original model to the upcoming one.
Today, however, we will look at five critical aspects and what to expect with the 2022 Hyundai Tucson launch.
Sensual Sportiness design
The Tucson takes Hyundai’s Sensual Sportiness design a step further, with the right creases and angles that make the SUV instantly recognisable. The design is appealing, especially when compared to the first-generation Tucson from 2005.
The grille on the 2022 Hyundai Tucson spans the width of the SUV, with integrated LED DRL and the headlights placed next to it as separate units. The Tucson’s aggressive stance is enhanced by the gaping lower section of the front bumper.
2022 Hyundai Tucson – The flagship SUV
The new Tucson will be Hyundai’s flagship offering in the ICE segment when it is released. The Hyundai Tuscon will be positioned above the Hyundai Alcazar in the company’s lineup, only to be surpassed by the electric Ioniq 5. At the moment, Hyundai has no plans to introduce the Santa Fe as the flagship SUV in India.
As a flagship, it will be priced accordingly, allowing vehicles such as the Tata Harrier, Safari, MG Hector, and Mahindra XUV700 to compete at the entry level while also competing with the Jeep Compass, Citroen C5, and Volkswagen Tiguan at the higher end.
Features – ADAS and more
The 2022 Tucson, as a premium offering, will include Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car technology, a 1.25-inch infotainment system with multiple Bose speakers, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated seats, and much more.
On the safety front, expect a minimum of six airbags, ABS, EBD, speed sensors, seatbelt reminders, reverse sensors and cameras, ISOFIX child seat mounts, 360-degree cameras, and ADAS.
Tried and tested engines
Hyundai will most likely offer the Tucson in two variants: petrol and diesel. Both are expected to be 2.0-liter versions, with the diesel carrying over from the outgoing Tucson. The existing 1.5-litre diesel from Alcazar may not have enough power, and Hyundai may be able to tune it to a different state, but this is highly unlikely.
The top-spec trims of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson are likely to include all-wheel drive, as with the current model.
2022 Hyundai Tucson – Pricing
When it is released, the upcoming Hyundai Tucson is expected to be priced between Rs 25 and Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). This price range allows the Tucson to compete not only with five-seaters but also with seven-seaters on the market, even taking a shot at the Jeep Meridian, which starts at Rs 29.9 lakh.
