Kawasaki India is preparing for the announcement of the new Versys 650, which is expected to happen soon. The company has been offering steep discounts on the existing Versys 650 model, which will be phased out in favor of the new model. If the rumors are true, the new release could occur by the end of the month.
The new MY22 Versys 650 is expected to cost between 40,000 and 50,000 more than the previous model. Aside from the increased price, the bike will also have new features such as a four-way adjustable windscreen, a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, and a two-level traction control system. The bike will also have a slightly modified front fairing to match the new Ninja 650.
The same 649cc parallel-twin engine that delivers 66bhp of maximum power and 61Nm of peak torque remains at the heart of the upcoming model. Aside from the engine, the bike retains the same chassis, suspension, and braking hardware as the previous model. Aside from the changes to the front fascia, the motorcycle now comes in new color options that set it apart from the previous model.
The bike has 17-inch wheels, an upside-down fork in the front, and a monoshock in the rear. The bike employs disc brakes at both ends for braking. The bike has a dual-pod headlamp setup, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and a 21-litre fuel tank and an adjustable windscreen.
The MY21 model is currently priced at 7.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), so the upcoming Versys 650 could cost between 7.50 and 7.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
