The Honda City, India’s most popular mid-size sedan, has been updated and now starts at Rs 11.49 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. Honda has added two new trims, new features, styling enhancements, and a new color, and the engines are now RDE and E20 compliant.
2023 Honda City facelift: Variants and features
Honda has added two new variants, one for the petrol City and one for the hybrid City. Both will be entry-level trims, the former with the SV and the latter with the V. The standard City is now available in four trim levels: SV, V, VX, and ZX, while the hybrid is available in the V and ZX trims.
The 2023 City includes new features such as Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which was previously only available in the City Hybrid, or e-HEV as Honda calls it. Aside from the entry-level SV trim, the remaining three petrol variants are equipped with ADAS. Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), adaptive cruise control, Lane Keeping Assist System, Lead Car Departure Notification System, Road Departure Mitigation System, and Auto High-Beam are all part of the ADAS suite. A new feature in both the petrol and hybrid City is the Lead Car Departure Notification System. When the vehicle starts moving, it alerts the driver with visual and audible warnings. The ADAS feature is a first in this sedan segment, and it’s worth noting that Honda is providing this safety feature also on the manual transmission range.
Continuing with ADAS, Honda has added Low-Speed Control to the City Hybrid’s adaptive cruise control. It ensures that the car maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front of it in slow-moving and even start/stop traffic.
The 2023 City comes standard with four airbags, with top-tier variants receiving six. It also has automatic rain-sensing wipers, a tire pressure monitoring system with deflation warning, Vehicle Stability Assist with Agile Handling Assist, Hill Start Assist, ISOFIX anchorages, and many other features.
2023 Honda City facelift: Exteriors
Honda has updated the exteriors of the City, including a touch-up job on the front grille and the chrome band that also houses the LED DRLs, as well as the new 9 LED array headlamps. The City receives new 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, LED wraparound tail lights, repositioned reflectors, rear bumpers, and a rear spoiler.
Honda has also introduced a new color, Obsidian Blue Pearl. Radiant Red, Platinum White Pearl, Golden Brown Metallic, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, and the new Obsidian Blue Pearl are now available in the Honda City lineup.
2023 Honda City facelift: Interiors
Honda has kept the dual-tone beige-black interior for the petrol model, while the hybrid gets a two-tone ivory-black combination. Ambient lighting is now available in the cabin door handle area and front door pockets on the City. The brightness of the ambient lights can be adjusted, or they can be turned off entirely.
Honda has added wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an updated infotainment system, smartphone app remote control operation, an improved rear camera, and a wireless charger.
The City e:HEV, on the other hand, receives a new carbon fiber pattern instrument panel finish, as well as piano black AC vents and steering wheel.
2023 Honda City facelift: Engine
There is no mechanical difference between the petrol and hybrid City. The 1.5-liter petrol engine produces 119bhp and 145Nm of torque. It is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. According to Honda, the manual petrol version gets 17.8 kmpl and the 7-speed CVT gets 18.4 kmpl.
The hybrid is still powered by a 125bhp 1.5-litre Atkinson-Cycle petrol engine with a torque of 253Nm and an e-CVT transmission. The Japanese automaker claims a fuel economy of 27.13 kmpl.
2023 Honda City facelift: Price
