Tata Motors has officially introduced the facelifted Harrier and Safari in India, following their ceremonial unveiling last week. Both SUVs have extensive feature and visual enhancements over their predecessors. On October 6, bookings for the revised iterations of both mid-size SUVs began at a token price of Rs 25,000.
2023 Tata Harrier, Safari prices
The new Tata Harrier’s introductory pricing starts at Rs 15.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 24.49 lakh for the regular variants. The new Tata Safari, on the other hand, has an introductory price of Rs 16.19 lakh and goes up to Rs 25.49 lakh for the basic models. Both SUVs are also available in Dark Edition trim levels.
Prices for the Harrier Dark Edition range starts at Rs 19.99 lakh, whereas the Safari Dark Edition range can now be had at prices starting from Rs 20.69 lakh (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom).
2023 Tata Harrier, Safari: Exterior design
The Harrier and Safari have been updated with sleek-looking linked LED DRLs running between the front grille and the hood. The split headlamps are vertically stacked and are located beneath the new stretched front grille and above the aggressively styled front bumper. While the Harrier has all-black skid plates, the Safari has silver ones.
The SUVs will now get 19-inch alloy wheels as well as welcome and goodbye elements on the headlights and taillights. The Harrier and Safari now have rear LED lights that are linked.
2023 Tata Harrier, Safari: Interiors & Features
The interiors of the Harrier and Safari have also been significantly updated, with many design features carried over from the Tata Curvv concept. The old steering wheel is replaced by a new twin-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated emblem. The dash has also been updated, as have the central air vents, which integrate in nicely with the overall appearance.
The latest SUVs have touch controls in place of physical buttons, soft-touch materials on the dashboard, and color inserts. The infotainment system is a 12.3-inch unit, up from a 10.25-inch device in the previous vehicle, and the instrument console is a fully digital unit that can be customized.
Harrier and Safari now provide segment-leading features such as voice-assisted dual-zone climate management, over 50 connected car capabilities with iRA 2.0, over 250 voice commands, emergency and breakdown call assist, and Alexa car-to-home communication.
Both the Harrier and the Safari come with seven airbags, an automatic parking brake with Auto Hold, front and rear parking sensors, an automatic Stability Program, and much more. ADAS capabilities include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function (AT only), Autonomous Emergency Braking – Including Pedestrian & Cycle, Forward Collision Warning, Rear Collision Warning, and others.
2023 Tata Harrier, Safari: Engine specs
The Harrier and Safari are still powered by a 2-litre diesel engine with 168 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Both SUVs include three drive modes: Eco, City, and Sport, as well as three traction control settings: Normal, Rough, and Wet.
