According to authorities, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Monday.
According to the China Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC), the epicentre was located at 41.87 degrees north latitude and 79.85 degrees east longitude, as reported by Xinhua.
The epicentre is 84 kilometers from Aksu and 670 kilometers from Urumqi, the regional capital.
According to the local authorities, no casualties or property losses have been reported thus far.
Following the earthquake, the local fire department dispatched two vehicles carrying ten people to the disaster area.
The quake had no effect on local power grid operation, oil and gas production, or key petrochemical enterprises, and their production and operation continued as usual.
