If you’re trying to eat healthy, you’ve probably heard that you should eat dinner before 8 p.m. or risk gaining weight. The advice does not stop there; avoid eating fruits before going to bed, eat 2-3 hours before bedtime, and so on. Is it, however, a myth or a fact?
What you eat is far more important than when you eat, according to nutritionist Palak Midha, founder of Palak Notes. “You should not eat 2-3 hours before bedtime because you tend to lose weight while sleeping,” she says. Midha gives an example: “If you are planning to eat dinner just an hour before your bedtime, then prefer to eat a light meal, such as yellow dal and white rice, because it is easier to digest.”

Remember that weight gain does not appear to occur solely as a result of eating your dinner.
Individuals who ate closer to their bedtime consumed more calories than those who ate their last meal earlier, according to a study published in Healthline.
“Those who eat late at night typically consume more calories, resulting in extra calories, and those extra calories can lead to weight gain.”

If you are a late eater, you should not make poor food choices. Avoid calorie-dense, unhealthy foods. If you ate a little late, you should go for a walk to digest it.

5 Foods You Should Avoid Eating After 8 pm:

Chocolates: They may satisfy your sweet tooth, but they are high in calories. Not only that, but it contains magnesium and antioxidants, which will keep you awake.

Alcohol: If you are trying to lose weight and gain muscle strength, it is best to avoid alcohol, especially at night. It will cause you to gain weight and disrupt your sleeping pattern.

Chips: Because chips are fried and high in calories, it is best to avoid snacking on them while watching your favorite show.

Aerated Drinks: It’s tempting to sip your favorite aerated drink, but did you know it’s high in sugar and calories? Make certain that you are not sipping on it at all.

Ice cream: Who doesn’t like ice cream?However, satisfying your sweet tooth can lead to weight gain. So, avoid eating ice cream.
