Today, the State Government welcomed 512 newly hired Assistant Professors, Junior Assistants, and Assistant Training Officers. Ten assistant professors, 194 assistant training officers, and 150 junior assistants joined the department of skill development and technical education, while 158 assistant professors entered the department of higher education.
The Convention Center at Lok Seva Bhawan hosted an induction program.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who just joined the program, hailed the new members and expressed gratitude for their commitment to the noble task of molding and developing our youth.
Addressing the new professors of Higher education Department, the CM said, “You are not merely teachers; you are catalysts of change, contributing to the intellectual and social growth of our state. Together, let us build a legacy of knowledge and empowerment that transcends generations.”
He further said that Higher Education plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our state. The youth of Odisha are our greatest asset.
He challenged the instructors to provide their students with the necessary academic knowledge as well as critical thinking abilities, creativity, and a global perspective as we set out on this road to improve higher education.
Claiming that his government has always placed a high priority on higher education, he revealed that about 5,000 teaching and non-teaching staff members have been hired in the last several years.
He said that in order to guarantee equity and advance higher education throughout the state, the state government has also chosen to establish government degree colleges in the arts stream in the 18 undeveloped blocks of Odisha.
It should be noted that historically high numbers of teaching and non-teaching personnel (4941) have been hired for government and non-government assisted colleges in the past few years. A total of 332 Assistant Professors have been appointed at Teacher Education Training Institutes, 556 Assistant Professors have been appointed in Government Degree Colleges, and 308 non-teaching staff members have been hired. In addition, 3745 lecturers have been hired by non-government assisted colleges in the past few years.
Speaking to recently hired staff members in the field of skill development and technical education, the chief master stated that, in addition to higher education, the domain of skills has grown increasingly important for our children’s future. He continued, “His Government has started a revolutionary path toward an empowered and skilled Odisha.”
He further said that this recruitment underscores the commitment of my government under the 5T framework, towards nurturing skill development.
He underscored that this induction represents a significant stride towards realizing our vision for a technologically advanced and adaptive workforce.
Together, he said, we aim to elevate the “Skilled-in-Odisha” initiative to unprecedented heights.
Speaking on the occasion, Higher Education Minister Atanu Sabyasachi said that higher education in state spreading its wings with the application of 5-T initiative. The State budget in higher education has reached Rs 4,000 crore and recruitment process has been expedited.
Skilling Development and Technical Education Minister Pritiranjan Ghadai said that the skilled-in-Odisha initiative has strengthened the skill eco-system. Skilled-in-Odisha, Make-in-Odisha are now in the buzz across the country, he added.
Three new recruits – Asst Professor Dr Abhipsa Bal, Asst Training Officer Pankajini Behera and Asst Training Officer Sweety Das, sharing their experiences, appreciated the 5T initiative for which the recruitment process has been fair, efficient and transparent.
Pankajini Behera telling her moving story said that she is a poor girl from Mayurbhanj and received training in Baripada ITI under Sudakhya Yojana. She was running sewing shop (Tailoring). Then she attended a skill conclave where she came out in flying colours. Now she has been appointed as an Asst Training Officer. She is very happy and thanked the Chief Minister for the skilling programme for girls like her.
Skill Development Principal Secretary Usha Padhee delivered the welcome address and Higher Education Commissioner-cum-Secretary Arvind Agrawal proposed the vote of thanks.
