Bhubaneswar: COVID-19 vaccination drive in Odisha will remain suspended on January 31, February 1, and February 2 in view of the pulse polio immunisation programme throughout the state.
A target of administering pulse polio to as many as 41,31,763 children below the age of 5 years in Odisha has been set by the state government.
The COVID-19 vaccination in Odisha will resume from February 3.
Around 17 crore children of less than 5 years of age shall be given polio drops as a part of the drive of Government of India to sustain polio free status of the nation. The countrywide drive will be supported by about 24 lakh volunteers, 1.5 lakh supervisors and many Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), WHO, UNICEF, Rotary and many others. Healthcare workers shall be visiting as many as 2 crore households to make sure that no child is left with out the protection of the polio vaccine.
