A portion of Nanda Devi glacier in Tapovan area of Joshimath in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand broke off on Sunday morning and broken a dam on the Alaknanda river.
In accordance with an official in Chamoli district, the Rishiganga dam, a part of a power generation project, received broken in the incident. Officials stated that rescue teams have been rushed to the affected area and there are no reports of casualties yet.
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has spoken to officials of the state disaster management and Chamoli administration. All districts are on excessive alert and people have been warned not to venture near the Ganga river.
In accordance with a SDRF official, a head constable from Joshimath informed the control room this morning {that a} glacier in Raini village has damaged off. He stated there was an avalanche at Nanda Devi two days back.
