New Zealand will resume from 101/2, 116 runs behind India on Day 4, with Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor batting. Gritty India batting were matched by probing New Zealand bowling in the first skirmishes of the ICC World Test Championship final on Saturday. India were bowled out for 217, their lower order being skittled out after skipper Kohli’s wicket. In reply, New Zealand openers Devon Conway and Tom Latham put on an unbeaten 70-run stand before Ravichandran Ashwin got the first wicket. Ishant Sharma snared Conway for 54, the highest score of the match so far, just before stumps were called because of bad light.
India grounded out 146/3 in 64.4 overs before the second day’s enthralling play was cut short by bad light after Tea with 33.2 overs remaining. The Rose Bowl floodlights were on for most of the day. Earlier, the first day was completely washed out.
