Stock Market Highlights: Today Indian equity benchmarks BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 ended a volatile session sharply lower, dragged by losses across sectors.
Financial, IT, FMCG and auto stocks were the biggest drags on both headline indices, though gains in oil & gas names lent some support.
Broader markets also weakened, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices falling around 1.5 percent each. Investors awaited more of quarterly earnings reports from India Inc for cues, after Mindtree’s strong set of financial results failed to excite the Street. The stock plunged eight percent.
Globally, news flow on the Russia-Ukraine war and rising COVID infections in China remained on investors’ radar.
