According to Box Office India, ‘Heropanti 2’, starring Tiger Shroff and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, had a powerful first weekend at the box office, grossing between Rs 6.25 crore and Rs 6.50 crore.
The film’s success can be attributed to the continued dominance of ‘KGF: Chapter 2,’ which continues to dominate ticket sales despite having been released only a fortnight ago. ‘Heropanti 2’ is expected to earn between Rs 8 and Rs 9 crore at the box office.
‘Heropanti 2’ should have done better given Tiger Shroff’s role as the film’s leading man. In fact, prior to the pandemic, the film had a good chance of opening in the Rs 12-15 crore range. Today’s circumstances, however, are different, and audiences appear to be far more picky about what they want to watch. Given the film’s massy tone, Sajid Nadiadwala’s film has been given a chance, and now all that remains to be seen is where it goes in the coming days.
Director Ahmed Khan’s hopes are riding on Tuesday’s Eid holiday. The film needs to keep collecting until then to keep the numbers from dropping, and its gross earnings should be in the double digits by the end of Sunday.
Whatever the film makes on Sunday, it will make at least as much, if not more, on Eid. As a result, Sunday traffic will be crucial in determining the trend.
