It was announced a while ago that Bollywood star Deepika Padukone will serve on the jury for the upcoming 75th Cannes Film Festival.
Deepika has been a regular on the Cannes red carpet in recent years, but this year she will appear on all ten days of the festival.
However, Deepika will not be walking the red carpet alone. Several other Indian celebrities will be walking the red carpet at Cannes this year.
These celebrities are part of the Indian delegation to the Cannes Film Festival, which begins on May 17. Anurag Thakur, India’s Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, will lead this delegation.
This year’s festival marks the 75th anniversary of India and France’s friendship. A.R. Rahman, Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, Nayanthara, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tamannah Bhatia, and Pooja Hegde are among the Indian delegation’s actors.
This year’s Cannes Film Festival will see the return of actor Hina Khan. She made her Cannes red carpet debut in 2019 for her film ‘Lines,’ which debuted with a poster at the festival. This year, Hina will walk the red carpet for the poster launch of her Indo-English film, ‘Country of Blind.’
R. Madhavan is attending the festival to promote his film, ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,’ which will have its world premiere on May 19 at Cannes. The film is being shown as part of the celebrations for India being named the official ‘Country of Honour’ at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. This biopic drama was shot in English, Tamil, and Hindi at the same time, and the English version will be shown at Cannes.
The film will be released in theatres on July 1, 2022.
