Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: Indian equity markets ended the day higher after snapping a two-day losing streak. Following a weak start, the S&P BSE Sensex staged a one-way upmove and closed at 55,818, up 437 points or 0.79 percent, while the NSE Nifty 50 index closed at 16,628, up 105 points or 0.64 percent.
In the broader markets, The BSE MidCap index ended 0.04 percent lower, while the BSE SmallCap index added 0.6 percent Reliance Industries (RIL) was the biggest contributor, accounting for nearly 60 percent of today’s gains, as its shares surged 3.6 percent .
Bajaj Finserv, Sun Pharma, HCL Tech, Asian Paints, Infosys, TCS, IndusInd Bank, and Tata Steel were the other top Sensex gainers. On the downside, HDFC, PowerGrid, HUL,HDFC Bank, L&T, and Kotak Bank were the laggards.
