Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree sanctioning his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and a number of other top officials in Moscow.
According to Ukrayinska Pravda, the decree signed on Thursday was in response to a decision made by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.
The sanctions target 35 Russian officials, including Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Sanctions include entry bans, revocation of visas and permits, revocation of Ukrainian state awards, revocation of all issued licenses and permits, freezing of financial assets, and a prohibition on transportation of property belonging to Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.
Furthermore, Zelensky signed a decree sanctioning Russian universities and their leaders.
Moscow State University named after Mikhail Lomonosov, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Saint Petersburg State University, and National Research University Higher School of Economics are all on the list.
According to Ukrayinska Pravda, the list included 236 Russian universities.
Ukrainian educational, cultural, and government institutions must cut all ties and agreements with Russian universities listed by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council.
