Russia Ukraine War: Russian troops are fighting their way into Ukraine’s Donetsk region after seizing control of the last two towns in neighboring Luhansk. Residents in Kramatrosk have been ordered to leave their homes as Russian forces advance.
According to the Associated Press, the governor of Kramatrosk, the last remaining eastern province partially under Ukrainian control, urged his more than 3.5 lakh residents to flee as Russia escalated its offensive and air alerts were issued across nearly the entire country.
Meanwhile, Moscow escalated its war rhetoric, with House Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin referring to Ukraine as a “terrorist state” and declaring that troops were fighting to ensure that Russia’s invasion did not end at the Donbas borders. Volodin has long been a vocal supporter of Russia’s invasion and previously argued against exchanging Ukrainian prisoners taken into custody following the Mariupol surrender.
