On Dalal Street on Wednesday, bulls took control as headline indices soared higher. The S&P BSE Sensex opened in the green and finished 616 points, or 1.16 % higher, at 53,750, while the NSE Nifty 50 index finished 178 points, or 1.13 percent higher, at 15,989. The top gainer on the Sensex was Bajaj Finserv, which rose 4.54 percent, followed by Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever, and Maruti Suzuki India. Power Grid was the worst performer, falling 1.14%. Other drags included NTPC, Reliance Industries, L&T, and Tata Steel. The Bank Nifty rose 1.5 % to 34,324. The India VIX, or volatility index, fell 2.5 % but remains above 20.
