Share Market Highlights: Sensex gains 344 pts, Nifty ends above 16,000

Bulls won the battle on Dalal Street on Friday, as headline indices and broader markets closed higher.

The S&P BSE Sensex closed at 53,760, up 344 points or 0.65 percent, while the NSE Nifty 50 closed at 16,049, up 0.69 percent. Hindustan Unilever led the Sensex gainers with a 2.86 percent gain, followed by Titan and Maruti Suzuki India.

The laggards were Tata Steel, Power Grid, and HCL Tech. Bank Nifty finished 0.09 percent higher, while India VIX fell 4% to 17.6 percent.
