FRIENDSHIP DAY 2022:

Friendship is one of the most beautiful bonds. We need our friends in our lives, whether we are happy or sad. Even when we are in trouble, the first person we think of is a friend. A friend is someone who keeps us grounded no matter how successful we become. Every year, we commemorate International Friendship Day to honor this wonderful bond. While it is observed annually on July 30, it is observed on the first Sunday of August in India. The first Sunday of August will be on August 7 this year.

The day is said to be very special because it is solely dedicated to the relationship that is chosen by love rather than given to us by blood. As we move through life, we always look for that one person who has the same vibe as us. While we continue to add new friends to our list, we do not lose sight of the old ones, which is the beauty of friendship.

HISTORY

Friendship Day has been celebrated since the 1930s. Joyce Hall, the founder of Hallmark Cards, began the concept of friendship day in the 1930s, when people met and greeted their friends. People eventually thought it was a gimmick to sell cards and stopped celebrating.

The day was proposed again in 1958 by an international civil organization, World Friendship Crusade, to promote peaceful relations between different cultures. After several years, the United Nations General Assembly finally declared July 30th as the official International Friendship Day to promote peace, happiness, and unity on April 27, 2011.
This special day, however, is observed on different dates in different countries. Friendship Day is observed on the first Sunday of August in India and Malaysia, while it is observed on April 9 in Oberlin, Ohio. The day is especially significant in India.
