Indian benchmark indices fell around 1.5% on Monday as a result of the mounting negative global cues. The Sensex dropped 872 points to close at 58,773. The Nifty finished below 17,500 points, a loss of 267 points overall.
All of the sectoral indices finished in the red. Metal, auto, information technology, and bank indices led the race to the bottom. FMCG tried to stay afloat all day but gave up near the end of the session to be on the negative side.
ITC, Nestle India, and Tata Consumers were among the few stocks that rose. Tata Steel fell by more than 4%, while Asian Paints, Adani Ports, Tata Motors, Divi’s Laboratories, and JSW Steels all fell by more than 3%.
