Laal Singh Chaddha Sets New World Records: Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, was released in theaters worldwide on August 11 but bombed at the Indian box office. According to reports, the film tanked at the box office due to the ‘boycott trend,’ earning only Rs 50 crores in its first week. However, the film wowed the international audience and broke a significant box office record. According to Bollywood Hungama, Laal Singh Chaddha has surpassed hits such as Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and The Kashmir Files to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022 in international markets.
Laal Singh Chaddha has surpassed Gangubai Kathiawadi ($7.47 million), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 ($5.88 million), and The Kashmir Files ($5.7 million) in less than a week of release. In comparison, each of those three films was a huge success in India.
Laal Singh Chaddha’s worldwide gross now stands at Rs 126 crore after the film was produced on a reported budget of Rs 180 crore.
And, with the film dominating international markets, Laal Singh Chaddha still has a chance to make a profit at the box office, assuming it performs similarly in China (depending on whether it gets a China release).
Laal Singh Chaddha, directed by Advait Chandan and written by Atul Kulkarni, is the official adaptation of the 1994 Hollywood classic ‘Forrest Gump,’ starring Tom Hanks. The film, which stars Aamir in the lead, also stars Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in supporting roles. Despite getting rave reviews from critics, the film flopped at box office in the country.
