The Adipurush teaser, starring Prabhas as Lord Ram, was unveiled on the banks of Sarayu in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya on Sunday. The mythological epic, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Om Raut, appears to be a visual spectacle. Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan play pivotal roles in the film, which is based on the Indian epic Ramayana.

The teaser depicts Lord Ram preparing to destroy the evil empire built by Saif Ali Khan’s Lankesh. Because the Ramayana is a story that most Indians know by heart, each moment in the teaser feels lived-in and part of our heritage, from Ravan flaunting his10 heads to Lord Hanuman landing in Lanka to Lord Ram walking the Ram Setu with the vanar sena. We also meet Sunny’s Lakshman and Kriti’s Sita.

The makers created quite a buzz about the Adipurush teaser before releasing it. The first look poster of Prabhas as Lord Ram has been released. In the poster, the actor is shown sitting on one knee, aiming an arrow at the sky.

Adipurush’s creators paid close attention to the film’s content because of its religious and social significance. Kriti Sanon, who plays Sita in the film, previously told PTI, “Obviously, we have to stay within a certain boundary and realize the weightage and responsibility that come with the character that you are playing.” Fortunately, I am in the hands of a brilliant director, someone who has done extensive research on the subject and on all characters.”

Adipurush will release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, among other languages. The film will also be shown in 3D and IMAX formats. It will be released in theaters on January 12, 2023, and will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair.
