Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of the Samajwadi Party and a three-term Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has died. On October 2, Netaji was admitted to Medanta Hospital with a urinary infection, a blood pressure problem, and shortness of breath. His condition has remained critical since then. Many of his organs were no longer functioning.
Netaji died at 8:16 a.m. on Monday after a nine-day battle in Medanta’s intensive care unit (ICU) and critical care unit (CCU). He died on Monday morning, aged 82.
Mulayam Singh Yadav’s death has triggered a wave of grief across the country among his supporters and political-social activists working across party lines and with diverse political ideologies. For the past several days, concerns were being raised across the country regarding Mulayam Singh’s health.
The death of Netaji was confirmed by Akhilesh Yadav, son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, on the official Twitter handle of the Samajwadi Party. The tweet reads, ‘My respected father is no more – Akhilesh Yadav.’
