Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former captain of India’s national cricket team, unveiled Droni, a camera drone, at the global drone expo in Chennai. The Indian cricketer is a brand ambassador as well as an investor in the drone manufacturing company Garuda Aerospace. The cost of the drone has not yet been disclosed. In terms of availability, the drone could be available by the end of this year.
Droni is a battery-powered quadcopter surveillance drone made in India. The company has yet to extrapolate the drone’s features, and we know very little about them at the moment.
Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Garuda Aerospace founder and CEO, said, “Our Droni drone is indigenous and can be used for different surveillance purposes. It is efficient, seamless and high quality from a tech and build standpoint. By providing Make in India drones, we hope to not just become Aatmanirbhar for the demand of drones but also place India on the global map as a hub for superior quality, safe and secure drone and drone-based solutions.”
During the COVID-19 lockdown, the former Indian cricketer said, he became interested in agriculture and learned about the important role drones can play for farmers and agriculturalists.
In addition to Droni, Garuda Aerospace launched another drone at the event. According to the report, the Kisan Drone can carry pesticides and spray them over a land area of 30 acres per day.
According to report, over 1,500 people from 14 international drone companies and representatives from 28 states and union territories attended The Global Drone Expo.
