Every year on October 16, World Food Day is observed. The day is observed to draw attention to the millions of people around the world who cannot afford a healthy diet and the need for regular access to nutritious food.
The Food and Agriculture Organization is in charge of World Food Day (FAO). This year will see a number of global challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, conflicts, climate change, rising prices, and international tensions. All of this has an impact on global food security.

HISTORY:
Dr. Pal Romany, former Hungarian Minister of Agriculture and Food, proposed the creation of World Food Day in November 1979. It is observed in over 150 countries around the world.
Every year on October 16, the world celebrates World Food Day to commemorate the anniversary of the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
