Koraput, an Odisha tribal-dominated district that was previously Maoist-infested, now has air connectivity from Bhubaneswar. Koraput district, located in Odisha’s backward KBK region, has a wealth of natural resources and scenic beauty, as well as enormous tourism potential due to its rich tribal culture. However, a lack of air connectivity to this region slowed its growth and development.
Recognizing Koraput’s enormous potential, the Odisha government has been working closely with the Ministry of Civil Aviation to ensure that flights to Jeypore, the district headquarter of Koraput, begin as soon as possible.
After 75 years of Indian independence, the first flight to Jeypore in Koraput took off from Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik international airport, ushering in a new era of development for this district that was once known for Maoist infiltration.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched IndiaOne Air’s direct flight service from Bhubaneswar to Jeypore this morning. The flight from Bhubaneswar departs at 11.35 a.m. and arrives in Jeypore at 1.20 p.m. The flight leave Jeypore at 4.05pm and arrive at Bhubaneswar airport at 5.50pm.
Koraput district, with its pristine rich forest, vibrant tribal culture, ecofriendly lifestyle, and organic food products, will emerge as the most awaited destination in the eastern part of India with this air connectivity.
