Following a four-day rally, benchmark indices ended lower on Wednesday, amid a mixed trend in global equity markets.
After a strong start, the 30-share BSE Sensex lost 215.26 points, or 0.35 percent, to close at 60,906.09. It fell 326.96 points, or 0.53 percent, during the day to 60,794.39.
Bharti Airtel, Maruti, Hindustan Unilever, Infosys, HCL Technologies, IndusInd Bank, and Titan were the Sensex pack’s major laggards.
Sun Pharma, ITC, Tech Mahindra, Dr Reddy’s, and Reliance Industries, on the other hand, were among the winners.
In other Asian markets, Seoul, Shanghai, and Hong Kong closed higher, while Tokyo closed lower.
In mid-session trades, European stock exchanges were trading on a mixed note.
Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty fell 62.55 points or 0.34 per cent to settle at 18,082.85.
