In the last 24 hours, India recorded 625 COVID-19 cases, the lowest number since April 9, 2020. There was no death as well, the first such occurrence since March 2020, according to the Union health ministry on Tuesday.
According to ministry data updated at 8 a.m., the country’s infection tally has risen to 4,46,62,141, while active cases have decreased to 14,021.
On April 9, 2020, 540 new cases were reported in a single day.
The death toll is still at 5,30,509.
According to the data, active cases account for 0.03 percent of total cases, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.78 percent.
On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.
On May 4, India passed the grim milestone of 2 crore cases, followed by 3 crore on June 23 last year and 4 crore on January 25 this year.
