According to Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday, India recorded 1,016 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,46,63,968, with 13,187 active cases.
The death toll rose to 5,30,514 after three new fatalities were reported in a 24-hour period, two in Maharashtra and one in Rajasthan, according to data updated at 8 a.m.
According to the ministry website, active cases account for 0.03 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.78 percent.
In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has decreased by 372 cases.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to a record high to 4,41,20,267, whereas the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent.
According to the ministry’s website, the country has received 219.76 crore doses of Covid vaccine as part of the nationwide vaccination drive.
On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.
Last year, the country passed the two crore mark on May 4 and the three crore mark on June 23. On January 25, this year, it surpassed the four- crore mark.
