Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: Indian stock markets ended the first trading session of 2023 on a high note, with the major indices closing with solid gains. The BSE Sensex ended the day 327 points higher at 61,168. This was down from the day’s high of 61,223. The NSE Nifty 50 ended the day at 18,197, up 92 points. The BSE Smallcap and Midcap indices closed 0.8% and 0.6% higher, respectively, in the broader market. Sectorally, the Nifty metal index was the top performer of the day after global brokerage Jefferies changed its stance on the sector to ‘positive’. Nifty Realty, PSB, and financial services were among the other sector winners, while Nifty Pharma and consumer durables underperformed.
Nifty gainers, losers
Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries, ONGC, Tata Motors and ICICI Bank were among the biggest Nifty gainers, while Titan Company, Asian Paints, Divis Labs, Bajaj Auto, and Hero MotoCorp were the losers.
