In light of the discovery of a new Covid strain-XBB. 1.5 in India, the Odisha government’s Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) department has advised the public to exercise caution.
Taking to Twitter, the H&FW department advised people to take precautions and follow Covid-19 guidelines for the next 30 to 45 days.
The department has assured the Odisha government that it is well prepared to deal with the new Omicron variant XBB.1.5.
XBB is a cross between two Omicron BA.2 subvariants. While scientists are still in the early stages of studying the XBB subvariant, they announced the discovery of an even newer version of that subvariant known as XBB.1.5. This strain is now responsible for more than 40% of Covid-19 cases in the United States.
