Anurag Thakur, a Union Minister, stated on Saturday that India has surpassed the United States as the largest exporter of vaccines, mobile phones, and defense equipment. He also stated that India ranked third in the startup ecosystem, with approximately 90,000 start-ups and 107 unicorn companies valued at approximately $30 billion. Thakur was speaking at the Jammu University’s 36th Inter-University North Zone Youth Festival (Antarnaad), which was organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
“India is now the hub of startup ecosystem in the world, ranking third with 90,000 startups and 107 unicorn companies worth 30 billion dollars which has been possible only by the contribution of India’s youth,” he said.
He added that to develop in the area of green economy, sustainable investment is required to produce green jobs and India is moving towards that goal. “India is moving towards becoming the global hub for green hydrogen producing five million metric ton, 10 per cent of the world in the next five years with ₹8 lakh crore investment that will generate thousands of green jobs for the youth of this country,” he added.
According to Thakur, the world is looking to new India because it has become the world’s largest exporter of vaccines, mobile phones, and defense equipment.
The week-long festival drew over 1,000 participants from 18 universities across the country.
