Ranbir Kapoor’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the Indian box office after Brahmastra. The Luv Ranjan-directed film, which also starred Shraddha Kapoor, had a successful weekend, grossing approximately Rs 6 crore. The figure is nearly a 100 percent increase from the previous Friday’s collection. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s total earnings after Saturday are Rs 102.21 crore. It is also expected to do well on Sunday, before the weekday slump sets in.
Pathaan’s big numbers came as a relief to Bollywood before Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. Movies like Akshay Kumar’s Selfiee and Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada bombed at the box office this year. TJMM, which was released on Holi, received a mixed reaction from critics and audiences.
People are enjoying the film in theaters despite the fact that there hasn’t been a Hindi rom-com in a long time. The songs are already at the top of the charts and have helped bring a large number of people to the theaters. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is now competing with four new films released this week: Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, Zwigato, and Shazam! Kabzaa and Fury Of The Gods
Meanwhile, Rani Mukerji’s Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway opened at Rs 1.27 crore and more than doubled on day two, grossing Rs 2.50 crore, according to Sacnilk. This brings the total to Rs 3.77 crore. Based on the true story of an Indian couple whose children were taken away by Norwegian authorities in 2011, the film has received a lukewarm response thus far.
