The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi met International Telecommunication Union Secretary General, Doreen Bogdan- Martin. Both the dignitaries had extensive discussions on leveraging digital technology for a better and sustainable planet.
Martin took to Twitter and wrote, “I commend PM @narendramodi & India for their leadership, keeping connectivity + innovation high on the agenda, and for recognising @ITU as #G20 knowledge partner. This 2023 SDG midpoint provides a much-needed opportunity for G20 countries to harness digital to rescue #GlobalGoals.”
Responding to the tweet by Ms Doreen Bogdan- Martin, the Prime Minister tweeted;
“Glad to have met @ITUSecGen Doreen Bogdan-Martin. We had extensive discussions on leveraging digital technology for a better and sustainable planet.”
PM Modi had earlier inaugurated the new ITU area office and innovation center in India at a ceremony in Vigyan Bhawan on March 22.
Meanwhile, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations’ specialized agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs), with headquarters in Geneva.
