The Odisha government raised the minimum daily wage for unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers in 89 scheduled jobs by Rs 12 by increasing their variable dearness allowance (VDA). The Labour Commissioner issued a statutory notice in this regard yesterday.
Besides, the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) will be revised every six months in the interest of labourers.
Unskilled workers’ daily wages have been increased from Rs 333 to Rs 345, semi-skilled workers from Rs 373 to Rs 385, and skilled workers from Rs 423 to Rs 445. Similarly, the minimum wage for highly skilled workers has been raised from Rs 483 to Rs 495.
The increase was made with the rate of inflation, consumer price index, current market rate, and minimum wage in the neighbouring states.
“Employees working in minor ports will now get benefit of the revised minimum wages as minor ports have been added to the list of scheduled employments,” said a press release issued by the department concerned.
