YouTube, Google’s free video-sharing platform, has increased the requirements for content creators to join the YouTube Partner Program and monetise their channel. YouTube’s updated regulations appear to be creator-friendly, with the firm reducing many of the parameters, making it easier for newbie content creators to begin earning on YouTube.
According to the most recent YouTube Partner scheme (YPP) standards, anyone with at least 500 subscribers can now apply for the monetization scheme, as long as they have produced at least three public videos in the last 90 days with at least 3,000 watch hours or 3 million short views.
Currently, the new criteria apply to content providers based in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea. According to the company’s official blog, the new regulations will be implemented in other markets as well. Similarly, at least 20,000 subscribers are required to enable commerce affiliate programs for US-based video publishers.
Those who adhere to the most recent regulations may apply for monetization and membership in YPP, which provides extra privileges such as tipping possibilities via Super Thanks, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. Once a creative applies for monetization, YouTube will assess the application within a month, with complete approval authority.
Previously, a YouTube channel needed at least 1,000 subscribers, 4,000 watch hours, and 10 million short views to be monetized, and the new rules should make it easier for more producers to monetize their channels on YouTube.
