Due to the presence of a cyclonic disturbance over the west-central Bay of Bengal and surrounding coastal portions of Andhra Pradesh, heavy rain is expected in various districts of south Odisha beginning Wednesday.
Odisha is expected to receive heavy rain on Thursday, according to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). According to the weather service, the monsoon will return to normal at this time.
On Wednesday, the IMD issued a yellow rain warning for eight districts in Odisha. Mayurbhanj, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri are among these districts. As a result of the cyclonic disturbances, the state may suffer heavy to extremely severe rain till July 8.
Wednesday (July 5, 2023):
Heavy rainfall is expected in one or two areas over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
Thursday (July 6, 2023):
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Bolangir, and heavy rainfall is very likely over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Boudh, and Nuapada.
Odisha’s monsoon has been weak this year, with 31% less rain. Until now, the state has received 171.1 mm of rain.
