Redmi India has announced that the highly anticipated Redmi 12 will be available in India on August 1. The successor to the Redmi 10, which was released in 2021, will sport a glass back and a triple camera configuration.
The phone will be available in silver, according to a microsite on Redmi India, although the firm has yet to release the details. The Redmi 12 was released in China earlier this year and features a 6.79-inch IPS LCD screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz and FHD+ resolution. The phone, according to the manufacturer, has a ‘AdaptiveSync display’ that can swing between 36Hz, 48Hz, 60Hz, and 90Hz refresh rates to save battery and has a peak brightness of 550 nits.
The phone, which is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 CPU, has up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, however it is unknown whether this edition will be available in India. The phone has a triple camera configuration on the back, with a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro sensor, and an 8MP selfie camera that can capture films in 1080p at 30fps.
The Redmi 12 may, like all recently unveiled phones, be powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. It may have the 3.5mm headphone port and offer IP53 water protection, but it will lack 5G connection because the Helio G88 is a 4G chipset.
The phone will most likely run on MIUI 14 based on Android 13 out of the box and is expected to cost under Rs 15,000.
