What has happened now?
During a recent interview, US rapper’s Ice Cube said that Hollywood allegedly denied him a once-in-a-lifetime film role worth nine million dollars for refusing to get the Covid-19 vaccine. He was in conversation with conservative political commentator and Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson in the back of his own car as it drove around his hometown Los Angeles.
The 53-year-old rap artist may have been referring to being dropped from the cast of the comedy film ‘Oh Hell No’, a Sony Pictures project and directed by Kitao Sakurai.
What did he say?
When asked why didn’t he take the vaccine, he said, “I wanted to be an example for my kids. Make sure they didn’t take it either. I was willing to stand on my own convictions,” he added, “I never want to be controlled. It wasn’t ready. It was six months, kind of rush job. And I didn’t feel safe.”
He finally added that the science was too experimental in this case, and he didn’t trust it.
“I heard what they said – I heard them loud and clear. But it’s not their decision. There is no repercussions if they are wrong. I get all the repercussions if they are wrong,” the rapper said.
He said it was not a difficult decision, despite the money from which he walked away.
Interestingly, when he asked Carlson if he got vaccinated, Carlson laughed and said, “Of course not.”
In April 2022, after months of dodging questions about whether he had complied with Fox News’s vaccination policy, Carlson told an audience at a San Diego County megachurch that he was not vaccinated against Covid.
Twitter up in arms against the rapper
As soon as the interview got aired on Tuesday, netizens began mocking the rap artist for his anti-vaccine remarks. As a result, the rapper started to trend on Twitter. Take a look at some of the tweets:
