On September 8, the legendary vocalist Asha Bhosle will perform in Dubai to celebrate her 90th birthday.
The ‘Asha@90 Live’ performance will take place at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, and will feature the veteran singer performing some of her most iconic songs on the occasion of her 90th birthday.
On Tuesday, Asha Bhosle spoke with the media about the upcoming event. She also performed ‘Tu Tu Hai Wahi’.
In her eight-decade career, the Padma Vibhushan awardee has recorded songs for films and albums in a variety of languages and garnered several honors, including two National Film Awards, 18 Maharashtra State Film Awards, and two Grammy nominations, among many others.
She is regarded as one of India’s most prominent singers, having written over 12,000 songs in several languages.
Known for her versatility, the singer has collaborated with a diverse range of music directors, including O.P. Nayyar, Khayyam, Shankar-Jaikishan, R.D. Burman, whom she married in 1980, A.R. Rahman, and Ilaiyaraaja, among others.
She is the late playback singer Lata Mangeshkar’s sister and belongs to the prominent Mangeshkar family.\
She began her film career with low-budget films before moving on to contribute her voice to some of Hindi cinema’s greatest hits.
