The University Grants Commission (UGC) established the UGC India WhatsApp Channel on Monday to provide real-time updates on higher education. The UGC-India WhatsApp Channel aims to promote a ‘inclusive and informed higher education landscape’.
Students, staff, colleges, and universities will be able to navigate higher education information in real-time with the debut of the new channel.
The UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar while launching the channel said, “The launch of the UGC India WhatsApp channel is a significant step towards fostering a more inclusive and informed higher education landscape. By embracing technology and utilising a widely used platform, the UGC is modernising its communication strategy and enabling stakeholders to navigate the information on higher education in real-time. This initiative sets a precedent for leveraging digital tools to enhance accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in education governance.”
College and university faculties can benefit from real-time information on curricular changes, evaluation procedures, and professional development opportunities via the WhatsApp channel. Students, on the other hand, will be able to check the channel for updates on tests, scholarships, admissions, and other higher education-related information.
According to the chairman, this initiative establishes a precedent for embracing digital tools to improve accessibility, openness, and efficiency in school governance.
