Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: The main equity indices ended Friday’s trading session in the red. The Nifty 50 fell 33.40 points, or 0.17%, to 19,731.80, while the BSE Sensex down 187.75 points, or 0.28%, to 65,794.73. The broader indices finished mostly in the green, with Healthcare and FMCG companies leading the way. The Bank Nifty index fell 577.60 points, or 1.31%, to 43,583.95. Among the other sectors indices, Smallcap and Midcap stocks rose, while Healthcare, Banking, and Financial Services stocks fell. The biggest gainers on the NSE Nifty 50 were SBI Life Insurance, Apollo Hospitals, HDFC Life Insurance, L&T, and Tata Consumer Products, while the losers were State Bank Of India, Axis Bank, ONGC, BPCL, and Bajaj Finace. The Indian Volatility Index (India VIX) closed up by 1.54 %.
Shares in the Asia-Pacific region are trading in the red on Friday morning. The Asia Dow is trading down 0.18%, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is flat, down 0.01%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index is trading down 1.36% and the benchmark Chinese index Shanghai Composite is down 0.71%.
The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq managed to eke out tiny gains on Thursday while the Dow Industrial Average (.DJI) ended slightly lower with pressure from tech and retail bellwethers Cisco and Walmart after disappointing forecasts, reported Reuters. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite gained 5.90 points or 0.04% at 14,109.73. The S&P 500 added 5.56 points or 0.12% at 4,508.24, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 45.47 points or 0.13% to 34,945.47.
