The air quality in Odisha’s Angul district is worse than that in New Delhi, a bulletin released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on Monday said. Six of the state’s urban areas have overall very bad air quality ratings.
At 4:00 PM on Monday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in New Delhi was 345, while in Angul, it was 352. There are more cities in the state with concerning air quality: Cuttack (340), Balasore (334), Bhubaneswar (334), Keonjhar (326), and Talcher (304).
The CPCB issued a warning on Sunday about the extremely poor quality of the air in six urban areas of Odisha, and it also disclosed that Balasore’s AQI was lower than New Delhi’s.
Environmental specialists claim that the persistent fog is exacerbating air pollution by preventing trash and toxic air, such carbon dioxide (CO2), from escaping the Earth’s stratosphere. The decreasing air quality is partly a result of industrial activity and unrestrained construction.
In certain parts of the state, the worsening air quality is expected to cause breathing difficulties for people.
