Two days prior to the New Hampshire primary, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential contest and his endorsement of former US President Donald Trump.
“We don’t have a clear path to victory,” DeSantis said in a video posted on X as quoted by Xinhua news agency report.
In the video, DeSantis stated that he was supporting Trump because the “majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance,” as it had “become clear.”
DeSantis made his statement shortly after Trump lost the Iowa caucuses by thirty percentage points. Trump had 51 per cent of the vote, while DeSantis had 21 per cent.
