On Friday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik raised the pay for independent mechanics who operate in the state’s Gram Panchayats. Their new salary has been raised to Rs 6,500 from the Rs 4,000 they are now paid. This is a 62.50% increase above the pay that is now received. This will help the state’s 13,000 self-employed mechanics in total.
It is noteworthy that numerous independent artisans and mechanics made requests and ideas in this regard during the district tours conducted by 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman VK Pandian. Following a conversation with the Chief Minister, he made the decision to enhance the compensation for independent artists.
Two Swavalambi (self-employed) mechanics are working in the village panchayats to provide continuous services for piped water supply, tube well maintenance, and repair in order to eradicate waterlogging and give clean drinking water to every village in the state.
