Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov in Beijing Tuesday, and both sides expressed hope for strengthening practical cooperation in various fields.
According to Xinhua news agency, Wang, who is also a member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee’s Political Bureau, congratulated President Putin on his reelection.
Wang declared that China will back President Putin’s efforts to revitalize and build Russia, as well as the Russian people’s freedom to select their own course for growth.
According to Wang, the relationship between China and Russia is crucial to preserving the strategic stability of the world. It is both the two major neighboring countries’ natural option and in the best interests of their respective peoples to maintain and grow positive relations between China and Russia.
According to Wang, China is prepared to collaborate with Russia in line with the agreement made by the two heads of state to enhance the alignment of their development agendas and encourage real-world collaboration in a range of areas.
The foundation of Russia-China relations, according to Lavrov, is equitable cooperation, respect for one another, and open communication. Russia is prepared to cooperate with China to sustain close high-level interactions and expand real-world cooperation in trade, economy, and other areas. Russia adheres to the one-China concept.
Lavrov continued, “Russia is willing to deepen cooperation with China on multilateral platforms to promote the establishment of a more just and democratic international order. Russia also supports the Global Security Initiative.”
Additionally, the two sides engaged in extensive discussion about the Ukraine issue, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the situation in the Asia-Pacific region and other international and regional issues of common concern.
