The southwest monsoon is likely to reach Odisha on June 10.
“The conditions are quite favourable for the arrival of monsoon. The southwest monsoon usually arrives in Odisha towards the second week of June. We expect the monsoon to reach south Odisha in the next three to four days”, said Manorama Mohanty, director of India Meteorological Department, Bhubaneswar.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon reached Kerala on June 5.
The southwest monsoon has advanced over the whole south Arabian Sea, some areas of the central Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Kerala, portions of coastal and south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and some areas of the Bay of Bengal, according to the most recent information published by IMD. And by June 10, it’s probably going to get to Odisha.
In the meantime, the districts of Rayagada, Nabarangpur, and Koraput have received a yellow warning from IMD. It is anticipated that these districts will see significant rainfall.
The state’s sparse rainfall has caused agricultural activity to suffer; nevertheless, the onset of monsoon will provide a much-needed boost.
