The South-west Monsoon arrived in Southern part of Odisha yesterday, still western part of the state is sizzling with extreme heat.
The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional center has issued three districts with a yellow heatwave warning. Among these districts are Nuapada, Bolangir, and Bargarh.
Eleven state districts have also received heat and humidity alerts from the weather service.
The temperature may rise by two to three degrees during the following five days, according to an earlier prediction from the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.
Informing about the weather condition and updates, the weather department tweeted, “Gradual rise in Maximum temperature (day temperature) by 2 to 3 degree Celsius during next 5 days at many places over the districts of Odisha.”
Notably, the Southwest Monsoon hits Odisha, four days before, informed Bhubaneswar regional centre of IMD on Saturday.
In some areas of Odisha’s Malkangiri district, the monsoon has already arrived.
Kerala is struck by the Southwest monsoon on June 5. It now encompasses the whole southern Arabian Sea, a portion of the central Arabian Sea, Kerala, Lakshadweep, portions of southern and coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and a portion of the Bay of Bengal.
