Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices Highlights: The benchmark equity indices ended Thursday’s trading session in the positive territory. The NSE Nifty 50 rose 470.45 points, or 1.89%, to close at 25,388.90, while the BSE Sensex rose 1439.66 points, or 1.77%, to 82,962.71. The broader indices closed in positive territory, powered by large-cap and mid-cap equities. The Bank Nifty index closed up 762.40 points, or 1.49%, at 51,772.40. Metal and auto companies outperformed the other sectors indices, while media and real estate stocks rose moderately.

The NSE Nifty 50 gained 470.45 points or 1.89% to settle at 25,388.90, while the BSE Sensex jumped 1439.66 points or 1.77% to 82,962.71.
As of 3:25 pm on September 12, 2024, a total of 2,326 stocks advanced on the BSE, while 1,589 declined, and 128 remained unchanged. Out of 4,043 stocks traded, 273 hit a 52-week high, while 36 recorded a 52-week low. Additionally, 312 stocks traded in the upper circuit, and 223 in the lower circuit.
Bharti Airtel, Shriram Finance, Hindalco, Hero MotoCorp, and NTPC are the top movers on NSE Nifty 50 index where the only laggard on the index is Nestle India.
M&M, Hero MOtoCorp, Bajaj Auto, TVS Motors, and Motherson were the top five contributors to the Nifty Auto index.

The Nifty 50 was up 87 points or 0.35% at 25,005 while the Sensex was up 220 points or 0.27% at 81,743.
Asian markets were trading higher on Thursday morning, following overnight gains in the US markets. Japan’s Nikkei 225 surged 2.83% to 36,627, while South Korea’s Kospi gained 1.22% to reach 2,543.95. The Asia Dow also saw a rise of 1.15%, trading at 3,502.66. Meanwhile, China’s benchmark index, the Shanghai Composite, edged up 0.27% to 2,729.06.
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics has released the latest CPI data for August 2024. The annual inflation rate in the US slowed for a fifth consecutive month to 2.5% in August 2024, the lowest since February 2021, from 2.9% in July, and below forecasts of 2.6%. The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.2% on a seasonally adjusted basis, the same increase as in July, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.
US markets closed on a higher note on Wednesday after investors analysed the US inflation data. The broader market index, the S&P 500 closed 1.07% higher at 5,554. Similarly, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite gained 2.17% to settle at 17,395.53. However, the Dow Jones Industrial Average index advanced 124.75 points or 0.31%, to end at 40,861.71.
