The government said on Sunday that it will build a groundbreaking digital platform to strengthen the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, plans to launch the ‘Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry’ (BHASKAR) project as part of the Startup India programme.
It is a platform intended to centralise, streamline, and improve communication among key stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, such as startups, investors, mentors, service providers, and government agencies.
“This initiative aligns with the government of India’s vision to transform India into a global leader in innovation and entrepreneurship, reinforcing the country’s commitment to the startup movement,” said the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in a statement.
India presently has approximately 1,46,000 DPIIT-recognised startups.
BHASKAR aims to capitalize on this potential by delivering a comprehensive, one-stop digital platform that addresses the issues that entrepreneurs and investors confront.
According to the government, by acting as a centralized registry, BHASKAR will provide seamless access to a diverse range of resources, tools, and information that will aid in the entrepreneurial journey from ideation to implementation.
By assigning personalised BHASKAR IDs to each stakeholder, the platform will simplify easier engagement, improve searchability, and enable the efficient discovery of relevant opportunities and collaborations.
BHASKAR’s major purpose is to create the world’s largest digital register for stakeholders in the startup ecosystem. To do this, the platform will have numerous critical elements such as networking and collaboration, centralized access to resources, personalized identification, improved discoverability, and support for India’s global brand.
The introduction of BHASKAR is an important step forward in the government’s continued efforts to stimulate innovation, entrepreneurship, and job development.
It will function as a primary center for startups, investors, service providers, and government agencies to communicate, exchange ideas, and accelerate growth. The administration said it encourages all stakeholders to participate in this revolutionary endeavor.
